Meet Gekko’s Technical sales Engineer Kate Grogan, one of the newest members of the Gekko Gang!
Kate has a Bachelor of Extractive Metallurgy degree from Murdoch University and started her career working with Newmont at the Boddington Gold Mine and the Tanami Gold mine with Newmont as part of the graduate program. Kate was drawn to the fast paced problem-solving nature of commissioning. When Panoramic offered her a job as a plant metallurgist at the Savannah Nickel mine she jumped at the opportunity. Following the Nickel mine closure Kate did a short stint at the Jaurdi Gold mine in Coolgardie where the focus was on plant optimisation, met accounting reconciliation and the design of a gravity circuit before transitioning into a Technical Sales Role with Gekko.
Kate is working under Tim Bell in the Perth office gaining exposure to working for a METS company. She is already getting her hands dirty commissioning the Gold Fields-Gekko digital collaboration at the Gruyere gold mine (pictured). Kate hopes to use her problem solving and technical experience to help make plants more efficient and reliable. She is excited to see the mining industry progressing in the coming years.
