Fantastic day in Victoria, Australia at Kaiser Reef Limited’s Maldon operation, for the open day and launch of the Gekko Wolff Batch Centrifugal Concentrator (Wolff).
The Wolff Concentrator is a groundbreaking technology designed to minimise the injection of precious fresh water in gold processing plants through the gravity circuit. This device will transform gold processing by utilising “dirty” or recycled water and improve water balance management in gold mills. This ‘first of its kind’ innovation enables mining companies to recycle water efficiently, addressing water stewardship and enhancing sustainability, while reducing maintenance costs and unit downtime, and improving safety.
The mining industry is committed to enhancing water management practices while also improving efficiency, safety, and productivity. In some locations, mines face the challenge of having no or very limited access to fresh water. The Wolff gravity-based, batch centrifugal concentration (BCC) system helps meet these challenges by enabling mines to operate using non-potable water, including both recycled and contaminated sources.
Gekko is proud to have collaborated with the management team at Kaiser Reef Limited and appreciate their commitment to innovation and best practice. Benefits to their mill have included improved gold recovery, lower stripping requirements for carbon and reduced reagent consumption. The Maldon site had been previously unable to install traditional batch centrifugal concentration devices due to their fresh water consumption and head height requirements. Thank you Dylan Morgan, Jonathan Downes, Stewart Howe and the rest of the Kaiser Reef Limited team for your support.
