Gekko Systems hosted 25 incredible young women from the Seed2STEM program. These Year 9 and Year 10 students had the opportunity to explore a world of STEM career possibilities and engage with inspiring mentors in the manufacturing industry. The goal of Seed2STEM is to stir interest in STEM subjects and empower the next generation of women in STEM.

Inspiring the next generation of women in STEM
The group enjoyed a hands-on experience at Gekko, touring our engineering office, metallurgical lab, manufacturing area, and even Gaia EnviroTech’s biolab (our sister company). The day ended with a hands-on project, where the students soldered together different components to build a smart sensor to display humidity and temperature.
We hope this experience has sparked curiosity and inspired these young women to pursue STEM careers. Who knows – we may even see them in the Gekko office one day!
The Seed2STEM program is delivered by the Geelong Manufacturing Council, with support from industry partners including the Ballarat Tech School.
