FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gekko Systems Celebrates 30 Years of Passionate People and Global Solutions
Ballarat, Victoria – April 2026

In 2026, Gekko Systems proudly celebrates 30 years of delivering world-class gold and mineral processing solutions. Founded in regional Victoria and headquartered in Ballarat, a historic gold rush city since 1851. Today, Ballarat remains an active gold producing region.

Gekko is proudly Australian-designed and Ballarat-made, with its manufacturing facility located at its headquarters. Passionate about Australian manufacturing, the company champions high-quality, locally built infrastructure produced to premium standards, engineered to withstand the toughest conditions, from the Australian outback to as far afield as the Arctic Circle. This in-house capability underpins Gekko’s rigorous quality assurance and ability to meet growing global demand. Over three decades, Gekko has grown from a regional Victorian company into a globally recognised leader in mineral processing equipment, technology, and services.

At the heart of Gekko’s success is a simple belief: smarter together. By collaborating closely with clients, partners, and communities worldwide, Gekko develops innovative, proven solutions that increase profitability while reducing environmental impacts through energy efficiency, pre-concentration, and reduced water consumption.

Gekko’s award-winning technologies, including the Python Processing Plant and InLine Leach Reactor (ILR), alongside its other leading mineral processing solutions, are trusted by mining operations worldwide. With more than 200 ILRs installed globally, Gekko continues to support the world’s gold recovery through proven, high-performance solutions. Time and again, Gekko has demonstrated the reliability, performance, and impact of its innovative solutions.

In 2026, Gekko is advancing two of its flagship gold technologies. The Wolff Concentrator sets a new benchmark in gravity recovery by enhancing fine-gold capture, reducing energy use, and supporting recycled water utilisation. OLGA, the OnLine Gold Analyser, developed in collaboration with CSIRO and exclusively brought to market by Gekko, is the first on-stream analyser capable of measuring gold in slurries and solutions, delivering sub-parts per million (ppm) results every 10 minutes. These real-time insights allow operators to detect process changes immediately, minimise gold losses, and optimise plant performance. Together, the OLGA and the Wolff Concentrator deliver smarter recovery, higher efficiency, and more sustainable outcomes in gold processing.

Co-founder and Technical Director, Sandy Gray, said,

“What drives my innovation is delivering customer-led solutions and continuously improving them; this approach has been central to Gekko’s breakthrough technologies, which have helped revolutionise the market, strengthen client relationships, and shape our collaborative strategy. By working closely with our clients, we continue to enhance results and reduce environmental impacts for both them and the industry.”

Gekko’s 30-year milestone celebrates its people, culture, and Ballarat roots, while reaffirming the company’s commitment to Australian design, manufacturing, and service excellence, and to continue to showcase Australian ingenuity on a global scale.

With a strong international outlook, Gekko exports to more than 50 countries, delivering Australian-designed technology backed by local expertise; it also maintains operations in Western Australia, where some 60% of Australian gold resources are located (Australian Government 2025), with additional offices and agents in South Africa, Canada, the USA, South America, the CIS, Ghana, and, more recently, Indonesia and Turkey.

As part of the celebrations, Gekko is hosting a series of global events. Following the success of recent Open Days at its Ballarat facility, attended by Federal and State Ministers in February, another event was held during PDAC in Canada, March 1-4.  Celebrations will continue in Ghana during WAMPEX 3-5 June, and in Perth in November, with these events showcasing the company’s innovative solutions, fostering technical engagement, and strengthening connections with clients, partners, and communities worldwide.

Reflecting on the milestone, co-founder and Chair, Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, said,

“The true success of Gekko has always been our people; many with 15–25+ years of service, whose expertise, dedication, and passion, drive everything we do, and form the foundation of our achievements. The ethos of ‘smarter together’ and our commitment to local manufacturing have shaped Gekko’s identity and allowed an Australian company from Ballarat to become a trusted global brand.”

As it celebrates 30 years, Gekko remains focused on shaping the future of mineral processing through smarter collaboration, responsible innovation, and globally proven solutions, while generating meaningful stewardship and advocacy that reflect its enduring impact on people, communities, and the planet.
