The International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney was filled with excitement as Gekko Systems looks back at a great event. Gekko’s Chair, Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, was honoured with the prestigious Legend of Mining Award, recognising her outstanding contributions to the mining industry. The recognition of Elizabeth Lewis-Gray with the Legend of Mining Award is a testament to Gekko Systems’ commitment to advancing the mining industry through innovation and sustainable practices.
Elizabeth has proactively worked with government, mining industry and research groups to identify and grow the potential for the Australian METS industry and to accelerate the application of mining innovation both locally and globally. Ms Lewis-Gray is the Founder of mining environmental not-for-profit group CEEC International.
At IMARC, one of the prominent topics was the growing importance of critical minerals, which are essential for high-tech applications like renewable energy, electric vehicles, and advanced electronics.
The event also served as a platform to discuss gold price strength expectations in the wake of current geopolitical uncertainties. Gold, often viewed as a safe-haven asset, remains a focal point for the mining industry. Moreover, the conference delved into pressing topics such as decarbonisation, new business models (like technology as a service), and the increasing importance of digitalisation, data analytics, and automation.
