In 2013, deep in Mongolia’s rugged Bayankhongor Province, Gekko Systems delivered a project that would become a defining chapter in our 30‑year journey: a fully modular gravity plant for REO LLC, the country’s only underground gold mining company.
This installation demonstrated Gekko’s technical capability and showcased the ingenuity, speed, and resilience that have shaped Gekko’s identity since day one.
REO’s Khuush Mine presented a unique challenge: a high‑grade alluvial deposit in one of the coldest mining regions on earth. Traditional plant construction would have taken far too long and struggled to withstand the extreme winter conditions.
The plant, featuring an InLine Pressure Jig (IPJ2400), a cleaner IPJ1500, two InLine Spinners (ISP30), and a fully equipped gold room, was delivered and commissioned in a fraction of the time required for conventional builds. Our Technical Services Team completed commissioning early in 2013, enabling REO to accelerate production and reduce operational risk.

What made this installation truly remarkable was the surrounding infrastructure:
- A fully heated building enclosing the entire plant
- Heated process water storage to prevent freezing
- A design that enabled year‑round operation, even in sub‑zero temperatures
It was a complete operational ecosystem built for resilience.
