Target Division

Installation of Batch InLine Leach Reactor

Gekko Systems and Target Gold Mine are proud to publicise the successful commissioning and optimisation of the ILR100BA unit in the metallurgical processing plant at Target in the Northern Free State in South Africa.

Target is a fully owned subsidiary of Avgold Limited and represents state of the art technology in terms of mining and processing for the gold industry.

Target is aiming to produce 350,000oz annually at below US$150/oz. Achieving this requires the use of some innovative technology; this factor led the project team to Gekko Systems.

Gekko supplied an InLine Leach Reactor to treat the gravity concentrate by intensive cyanidation and gold recoveries in excess of 99% are now being achieved.

Antipite Mine

Installation of Batch InLine Leach Reactor

Gekko are pleased to announce the recent successful installation of an ILR1000 Batch unit at the Antapite Mine in Peru. The mine is owned by Inversiones Mineras del Sur S. A of whom Buenaventura have a 76.2% share. The unit has been installed to treat gravity concentrates and to replace a shaking table. Luis de la Cruz, Chief Project Metallurgist for Buenaventura, sourced the equipment from Australian based, Gekko. Following installation, gravity gold recovered increased from 15% to 40% of total gold. Furthermore, cyanide addition in the CIP plant fell by 25%.

Jorge Olivera, Mill Superintendent at Antapite, said "We were very pleased with the high recoveries and fast commissioning time. The unit was operational from start up and the first gravity batch treated achieved 98% gold recovery." The gravity concentrates have a high silver content and 95% recoveries on silver were also achieved.

Penjom

Installation of InLine Pressure Jigs and InLine Leach Reactor

Gekko Systems installed six InLine Pressure Jigs (IPJ1500) to recover both free and sulphide associated gold from the grinding circuit. The significance of this recovery was considerable due to the extremely low gold recovery in the downstream CIP leach circuit at that time. The Penjom ore carries varying amounts of aggressive naturally occurring fine organic carbon. This fine carbon then carries gold to tail where it is lost. Penjom was Gekko' s first ILR Installation and involved significant development.
